[IA] Week 4, Day 1

STUPID ME!!!


I used the 4 point probe again for the resistance testing.
Dr. Li asked me to check the phase change temperature of the GST-225 using the probe, because last time I did check the HfO2/GST and it's OL...

Then, I did the resistance testing lol.

But but but... always OL up to 150 degree C...


and I wonder why.


Then, 1 hour later, I've just realized that the black wire of the multimeter is not connected to the probe!!! Last time it's the red one, now it's the black one...


Bah.


THen, I used the sample GST-3, the one I used for UV Spectrophotometry.
But dunno... the result and the curve seems weird... I cannot find any phase change temperature lol.

Then, I took out another sample from the drybox. GST-4, and the result is also... disgusting, I should say.


Sigh -.-


And Dr. Li also asked me to find out the GST-225 melting point temperature.
Tmelting = 600 - 620 degree C.
Tcrystallize = 400 - 450 degree C.

[IA] Week 3, Day 5

Today I had real fun with UV Spectrophotometry!


It's in the Lab 4. The machine is just next to the door; consisting of a PC and two boxes for UV.

Dr. Li taught me how to use the software for measuring the Reflectance (although UVPC can also be used to measure Absorption and Transmittance).

The acquirement of the image and data is easy. Just inputting the sample into the UVPC and let it work by its own :P
However, the data is in ASCII code. So I did transfer it to MWord and next to MExcel...

But I dunno.
There seemed to be a bug in the ASCII translation.
Some datas are just very messy arranged -.- and thus couldnot be read by the excel directly. So I had to 'clean' them up...

Finally, at 5.00 pm I've finished them all :D (actually I've finished from 4.15... but I'm too lazy to meet her)


Now.. it's weekend

It's Thursday!!!


And tomorrow will be Friday, yey :)
I still have no plans for weekends. Guess I'll be going to Funan to buy External HD (in spite of the looooowwwww........ budget... T.T) and to the city lol. I'm bored.


It's not that I hate my IA

I like doing IA here, I just hate waking up at 6.15 am and trying to sleep at 11.30 pm.


And today... I did the same thing as yesterday.

Multi tasking lol.

Thermal Annealing, using the Box Furnace.
and do the Resistance testing using the 4 Point Probe.

However, there might be some problem with the MicroManipulator there... The resistance measured by the multimeter is always said to be OL (OverLimit, is it?)

I've asked about it to my supervisor, Dr. Li. Hence she would ask someone to find a cable (in which I dunno the name xD) so that it would be easier and more sensitive.

However, dunno lol...


Until now, I'm still not able to do the resistance testing =(

[IA] Week 3, Day 2

so so so so so...

I did this sputtering thing this morning.


9.20 am
Suddenly my supervisor came to my cubicle (I was thinking I would see her at 9.30 lol)... and asked me to go down to the cleanroom with her, because the sputtering machine is booked for the afternoon slot. She said maybe we could use the machine during lunch hour lol.

9.25 am
I met her at her desk, and we went down to the cleanroom at 9.30. Because there was this Mr. Sofian; the person-in-charge (aka PIC) for the (big) sputtering machine.

9.40 am
Started doing the sputtering...

Actually I was just watching my supervisor and Mr. Sofian doing it. Because I really donot understand... Damn.

Firstly we did the pre-sputtering for Chamber 1 and 3 (the two chambers will be used in the sputtering process). Chamber 1 is for RF sputtering (dielectric; we did use HfO) while Chamber 3 is for DC sputtering (GST-225).

Next, we did the preparation for the sputtering for our sample.
While my supervisor did the *damn, I don't know the english word for this* 'etching' (is it?) for the samples on the disc, Mr. Sofian talked alot to me ^^v


-what he told me-

You are lucky to study BioEngineering. Because BioEngineering studies many fields... and BIE has to study many fields... including mechanics, thermodynamics, fluid flows, electronics, and basic biology.

Mr. Sofian himself got his undergrad for Chemical Engineering and his postgrad for Biomolecular Engineering (he got his postgrad at Newcastle). And he said that he cannot do what he wanted to do, because there is no human resources ~.~

He wants to study the human protein in the BioElectronics side; by using circuit analysis. Hence, he needs a Microbiologist to study the protein affinities and properties, and a Surface Analyst to study the protein surface.

He said BioEngineers are needed in DSI. lol.

Then, he also told me that in DSI, you have to set a target (and the methods to achieve it) so that DSI will fund your research. Compared to IBN where you get the money to do your research and then submit your results.

Hoa...
I didn't dare to ask him why he did stay in DSI. lol :D

12.15 pm, lunchtime
Went to the nearby canteen with Ratna and had our lunch; then we took the shuttle bus to Central Library (there's this BAZAAR) there.

And the bazaar here in NUS is quite nice. The items sold are much better than that of NTU's.
Haha. No wonder many people buy stuffs during the bazaar here xD


2.30 pm
Met my supervisor. I thought we together would go to the cleanroom. But she just asked me to go there by myself --" (again, with her $100 access card).

So, I just went to the cleanroom. I think it's only half an hour there, just to take the samples out from the discs and put it in the small boxes ^^v

So, here I am now, waiting for 6.00 pm to come xD

Met my supervisor.

We went to Optical & Crystal Laboratory (the one at the most corner), and she told me to read the manuals for Thermal Annealing using those Heat Controllers.
One is Box Controller, and another one is the Tube Controller.


Tomorrow morning... At 9.00 am, I have to meet her to load the sample in the Heat Controller.
Damn, cannot be late :P

So bagi yang lagi mesra mesra nya mohon hindari jomblo yang satu ini apalagi yang sabet mantan pacarnya. VERY DANGEROUS !

Jomblo yang satu ini baru putus pacaran secara resmi (sama sama merestui) karena uda bosan atau jenuh dan lagi kosong. Ciri-cirinya : Wajah ceria seperti narapidana yang baru bebas, menikmati hidup dan menemukan kehidupannya kembali, sering terlihat hangout rame rame dan happy happy dan banyak lagi, kesimpulannya MERDEKA !

Jomblo Finale
Jomblo yang satu ini uda lagi dekat dekatnya dengan seseorang dan hampir melepas status kejombloannya. Ciri-cirinya : Setiap hari tidak terlepas dari cermin, make up, fashion update, bodycare, rajin rajin baca zodiak, sering senyum senyum sendiri kalo lagi baca SMS.

so what have I done today?
still still still... boring lol :)


I did this heating thing with the MicroManipulator. It's a 4-Point-Probe for heating and cooling; then we can measure the Resistance / Voltage / Current using the MultiMeter connected with the MicroManipulator.
Meanwhile, we set the Temperature-Wanna-Be and the Temperature-After-Cooling-Down and also the Ramp Temperature (how many degrees C per minute).


And the result...




TADAAAAAAAA!!!

Always and always.

I dunno what I did do wrong there... I've tried 4 times; twice using Dielectric, Si (100), and another twice using Si wafer... Erh, wait... so it's another Dielectric...

Stupid me.

Well... After that, nothing to do lar.
Just go and return from the Cluster Room at Level 5, always and always. Nothing to do, really... -.-

I'm so bored to death...


For tomorrow... The Sputtering (Big) Machine has been booked by a FYP Student... While the Sputtering (Small) Machine is still broken and being repaired.

Wednesday and Thursday, my supervisor, Dr. Li, got a training which will take the whole day.
Then... Friday... (let's see) she dunno if there'll be anything happen..
